Let’s start with the most basic definition — that which comes from a standard dictionary, then we will apply it to how becoming a sleep guru will serve to benefit you, the reader.

From Random House:

guru. noun. 1. Hinduism — a preceptor giving personal religious instruction

2. an intellectual or spiritual guide; wise leader

sleep. noun. 1. to take the repose or rest afforded by the suspension of the voluntary exercise of bodily functions and the natural suspension, complete or partial, of consciousness.

By examining the key concepts behind the words and definition of each, we can compose the driving force and direction of what The Sleep Guru will be to you.

The obvious jumps forth today: The Sleep Guru will impart wisdom as he leads you as your personal guide, both in seeking, sharing and gaining knowledge as well as finding a sense of purpose. Purpose? Yes, the reason why sleep is so important to your life. We voluntarily (most of us) choose to sleep 8 hours (ok, 6 for most of us) every night — how can we maximize this effort to get the best sleep possible?

The Sleep Guru wants to guide you on this path of making your time asleep maximize your health and energy.

The next step will be to define ‘What is Sleep” and ‘What do we need sleep for”? These are the most important questions.

Stay Tuned. This blog is in its infancy; we shall grow together quickly in our knowledge and efficiency.

This is the beginning of teaching about sleep from a the point of view of whom it matters to most: those who don’t sleep well. That has been me throughout much of my life.

The difficulties in achieving the positive benefits of good sleep, with all the energy, focus and vitality that we should enjoy has come to The Sleep Guru through many years of study and experimentation.

This blog will help lead you through some of my experiences such that you can bypass the ineffective methods and zero in on what works best for you as well as what has proven to work well for everyone.

Join us. Comment and question as needed. And learn.

Here is what you will find in the days, weeks and months to come — we will share an answer to living a NORMAL LIFE.

A Normal Life of getting to sleep without angst and worrisome extra effort.

A Normal Life where the bedroom is a friend instead of an enemy.

A Normal Life that has mornings not covered in the dull, bleariness of weariness brought on by lack of quality sleep.

A Normal Life that awakes us feeling alive, alert and healthy every morning — rejuvenated from our night’s sleep.

A Normal Life that might let us realize our full potential in life.

How great would life be if you were to go to bed, get to sleep almost immediately, sleep soundly through the night allowing your mind to work through its problems and solidify memories while your body rested, repaired and rejuvenated?

What if you awoke without need of an alarm and within minutes felt full of energy, raring to start another full day of life?

That is what we are here to do. This is our Goal.

Let the Sleep Guru lead you on this path.
